What router advice please

Hi all, we are having serious wi fi problems with our SR101 Sky router.

Wired connections ( Our desktop pc and two multiroom boxes) are fine, albeit 5500 kbps max ( Sky say this is my lines max )

It is our wi fi that is virtually non existent on all of our devices. It sometimes connects for seconds then other times for a couple of hours. This is eating up all of our 3G and causing upset because no one can use anything.

My wife and kids want to change providers.

We had problems with our old sky router but they would not give us the new SR101 so I bought one myself and it worked for a couple of weeks then started the same wi fi no signal problem. Sky would not send us a new one unless we paid !

I was going to buy a decent router/modem myself and it appears that the Asus dsl N55U will fit the bill.

Is this the best router to fully replace the SR101 ( Sky Broadband Unlimited ) NOT fibre

Do I just need to obtain my username and password from the SR101 then will the new router set itself up or is there other changes that need to be made.

I looked at the Asus Rtn66u but that seems to be for fibre as it has no dsl line, is that correct ?

Is there one of those password generators for the SR101 or do you have to do it manually, if so which method is the easiest for someone not fully clued up ( But not stupid )

Thanks for any advice.
