Lied To Regarding A new Contract

Over the last few days I was pondering on lumping together all of my services, I currently have an out of contact Movies and Sports HD subscription and a phone line and Broadband with Virgin Media. Anyway long story short, I did all the usual ringing retentions and was offered a good deal from VM, however I do prefer Sky for my TV. So I rang Sky too see what they could offer me and at first it seems a good deal having all the three services with Sky, however on doing the sums later i was worse off with Sky so I then contacted them once more. I was then offered a better deal, or so it seemed with the broadband and phone line coming with a new 12 month contract but the TV service would remain the same, or so I thought. Again after doing the sums and a quick call to Virgin Media the Sky offer was some £60 dearer that the VM equivalent so again I rang to cancel, but this time I was told I couldn't as I was now on a new contract as my package had changed, and also the TV was lumped into this new contract.

On reflection I know I've been lied to and the CS at Sky stated they would have to listen to the recorded conversation from yesterday and will contact me later today, what are my rights here as I wasn't made aware that by agreeing to this I wouldn't be able to cancel some 24 hours later. Are they abusing my consumer rights by doing this, or just blatantly lying or both?
