hello every body.
im new here to the forum and to networking.
The reason why i have created this thread his to find out if i could use the Asus RT-AC68U router with sky unlimited fibre and how i would go about achieving this, i could not find any information about this here.
i have the sr102 router on the way to me, but i don't think i would be able to use it because you cant not put in modem only (thats what i have heard unless some know how to) . there fore i would be looking to purchase another modem could you suggest one which will work.
i think the aus rt-ac68u is is just a router without the modem am i correct.
i do know i would need to extract username and password from the sr102 hub which i know how to do and use firmware on the asus router.
current setup
Sky unlimted
sky D-Link 2640S
2 laptops
1 tablet
2 desktop
1 Samsung note 3
the 2nd desktop is in the process of begin build, the other desktop on the other hand has had upgrade, wireless adopter, (Asus pci-AC68 dual band wireless AC1900.
the reason why i up graded it was because the old wireless adopter was for b/g + the wire was broken.
the reason why i have opt to do something about the network is that since the Samsung phone has been in the house connected to the home network all other device have really slowed down, i haven't changed the chl because its on auto, plus the router needed an upgrade.
so i have decided to upgrade my package to sky unlimited fibre and i wanted to use my own router.
also i read about the face plate, currently i have BT openreach master socket which has the ibackplate. im going research a bit more before i purchase the adsl face plate , every bit helps i guess.
i look forward to your reply
