Is an Openreach engineer really required?

So I've had an issue with my Fibre speed on the 40/10 package for a few weeks now. I've been in touch with Sky who have been helpful regarding this issue, just over a week ago now Sky told me they had logged the request for Openreach to re-profile the line, my speed has been stuck at the same figure in the router stats for some time now, even after re-boots etc. I was told to keep an eye on the speed over the next few days aware that this would re-profile my line and I'd notice some fluctuation, however nothing has changed at all, I gave Sky a call this evening to see if they've had any confirmation from Openreach about whether they have this logged. I've been told there is a configuration issue on my line before and just assumed this would be a remote reset of the line but have been told an engineer will be coming to visit next week - Is this a normal procedure? :)
