Broadband problems & moving home

My broadband and Sky Talk has been very erratic (regularly dropping out and reduced speed) for almost a month now. Sky sent openreach around but it wasn't fixed. Sky say that BT are aware of a problem in my area and have updated me (with nothing) once each week for the last three weeks. I think the problem is with my line but that cannot be investigated again until the area problem is resolved. I am moving and as I am getting secondhand information from Sky, would it not be better to change to BT ? I have been with Sky for many years and am out of contract. If I move with Sky (TV and/or Broadband/Sky Talk) will that commit me to a new contract?
