Mass Surveillance in the UK

Do you think that it is a good idea for the UK Government to monitor every text message we send, email we write, web page we view, phone call we make, review every GPS tagged image we take and whom we are communicating with?

Even in times gone people were being watched. Whether it was a local in the village who would report to the local Lord or the local postal service who might open those letters being sent, our country has always had someone peering over our shoulders and watching our every move.

Laws were apparently introduced making it illegal to tap a phone and listen in on our conversations, unless a suitable warrant was issued by a judge.

Now both the NSA and GCHQ capture our every move and attempt at communication through the Internet and telephone services.

The argument is that it is for our safety, so that the Government can keep an eye open for terrorists.

Is this the price of freedom?

Should we be allowed to have private lives or should we allow someone to watch our every move?
