New customer

My girlfriend has sky which is currently under her husbands name (not divorced yet). He is paying for it
I am moving in with her, and want to have a new Sky contract in my name. I've never had a sky contract before.

If i set up this in my name at the same address, asking him to cancel his contrac, would I get the benefits of a new subscriber, and how long would the process take?
