Now thinking of cancelling ...........

I am a long time Sky TV customer. Each year I call them in March to upgrade to Sky Sports to cover the UK cricket season which is cancelled in August. In the past, this has been a very simple process. Today, I am advised that the sports package cannot be cancelled unless I answer some questions about my viewing habits. When I say that I am not interested, the CA just persists and persists. He is 'just following Sky procedures etc'. Eventually, after some minutes of arguing he gives in and actions my request. I am so annoyed by this time that I ask to be put through to cancellations. I am then advised that Sky viewer profiling is voluntary and if a customer says 'no' that should be the end of the matter. On further discussion, I am told that sales commission is involved if a customer takes out extra packages. Is this Sky's attempt to replicate the PPI mis-selling scandal? I have raised a complaint against customer services and I am now considering terminating all my links to Sky. How can this be good marketing? I just wish that there was more competition out there.
