Replacement for sky router (DG834GT) - Need better wifi signal.

I am currently on Sky broadband (not the fibre service), and use the DG834GT (white) router. The signal in part of the house is weak, and can make some activites a pain to use. I would like some advice on the best way of boosting my wifi signal.

My setup
A desktop connected via ethernet cable to the sky router.
2 smartphones, a tablet, Xbox 360 and a netbook all connected via wifi.
In the very near future I would like to add my sky HD STB to the wifi network as well as an external USB HD.

My Requirements
I would like to stream video from my USB HD to my tablet over the wifi network, youtube on my tablet/phone, stream radio and online gaming. Once the sky HD STB is connected to the wifi network, I would use like to use the 'On Demand' functionality.

My Problem
Currently the wifi signal in the lounge is quite weak, and streaming video is not as smooth as it should be. I am unable to move the router.

What I would like is some advice on a 3rd party router that can either replace my sky router or can connect to my current sky router. The main aim is to increase my wifi signal strength in the opposite end of the house to the sky router.

I have obtained the sky username and password for my router. I am thinking of purchasing either the Netgear WNDR3700, Netgear WNDR3800 or the Netgear DGND4000, but I am open to suggestions on alternatives. I would like a router than will still be of use to me, when I switch to skys fibre service.

I have read the "how to connect two routers together" guide, so that is one option I could use. Although would prefer to have just the one router rather than two as they would be next to each other.

I have added all the pertinent info, hence the slightly long post.

Hope you can offer me some sound advice. Thanks.
