Sagem router

$

I have a Sagem router, probably around 8 years old, I’m not sure of the model number. It works fine for me despite it’s age, I get around 18meg of download speed.

My question is; my 10 year old iMac has now gone to heaven and I’m awaiting delivery of a nice new shiny iMac, a 27 inch model with extra,s can anyone tell me if my long in the tooth Sagem router will work okay with the hot modern electronics of the new iMac.

I feel I should upgrade to a Sky Q router but funds are limited after splashing out on a new Mac, being retired does not help me increase my bank balance quickly!!!!

Any advice appreciated, please note I’m no technical guru!

Ps3 connection problem

Hi guys, new to the forum. I've got a problem with my sons ps3.

A couple weeks back it suddenly lost connection to the WiFi. It always connected fine, signal strength is always over 70%. I've tried connecting it again & nothing, keeps saying time out & WPA may be incorrect, it's not & I even changed the password but still came up the same.
I've tried to manually put in iPhone address etc & still it won't connect. Everything else connects to the WiFi fine & the ps3 will connect to my mobile fine.
Can anybody shed any light.
It's a fat PS3 by the way

Playing live TV is slightly "jerky". Previously used Sky Go on IE and then an IE Tab on Chrome browser and video was perfect.
Using Windows 10 on a Toshiba Satellite and also Dell 3010 with an added graphics card. On Sky Fibre unlimited with 30 to 40 megs download.
Has anyone any ideas?

Hi guy, I have a big collection of men's cologne. For last 10 years, I collect more than 500 different colognes. Also, write my experience about colognes on my blog. Please share your experience about colognes to help me write more good content on my blog. What is your favorite? How many do you try it? Which one is the worst? And etc. I'm trying to write which one is the best but based on real opinion.

Sky Mobile launches tablets with data rollover and UK’s lowest monthly price on new Swap36 plan

Quote:

Sky Mobile today announced another shake up of the mobile sector as it launches into the tablet market. The launch brings data rollover to tablets for the first time, with Sky Mobile’s Roll included on all tablet pay monthly plans.

From today, Samsung tablets are available on Sky Mobile’s Swap plans. An all new Swap36 plan gives customers the UK’s lowest monthly prices with no upfront costs on popular tablet models, such as the Samsung Tab A 10.1 from £13 per month with 500MB of data. Apple tablets will also be available on Sky Mobile soon.

The most flexible tablet contracts - Roll and Mix

Sky Mobile’s unique benefits, Roll and Mix, will be available to all tablet customers.

With Sky Mobile’s Roll, any unused data is automatically rolled into a customer’s Sky Piggybank at the end of every month and is saved for up to three years. There’s no limit to the amount they can store, and they can simply dip into their Piggybank whenever they need a data boost.

Sky Mobile is the first UK operator to offer data rollover on tablet plans. This is useful for those customers who occasionally use their tablet out of the home but do not want to opt for a plan with a high amount of data they will not use. Since launching Sky Mobile in January last year, Sky Mobile customers have collectively saved £26 million worth of mobile data with Roll*.

With the new tablet plans, customers can also share the data stored in their Piggybank between five different SIMs in the household. This means a family can share data between family members, on both tablets and mobiles, with data given to those who need an extra boost.

Sophia Ahmad, Director of Sky Mobile
, comments: “This is the first time any network has allowed customers to rollover their unused data rather than lose it at the end of the month, and then share it between an entire family’s tablets and mobiles. We launched Sky Mobile to shake up the mobile sector, and we’re now bringing that same flexibility and the UK’s lowest monthly prices to the tablet market.”

With Mix, customers will be able to choose the plan that fits their needs, with prices from £5 per month for 500MB, and 1GB, 5GB or 10GB available for £10, £15 and £20 respectively. As with phones, tablet customers can change their plan each month, up or down, depending on how much data they need.

Swap plans for tablets

Sky Mobile is launching a new Swap option for tablets, Swap36. Swap36 has been designed to reflect how often customers choose to upgrade their tablet, with a longer upgrade cycle than phones. With Swap36, customers can get Sky’s lowest monthly prices and the option to swap their tablet after three years. For customers wanting to get the latest model more often, Swap24 is also available with any tablet an allows customers to swap to a new model after two years.

Sky Mobile launches with the most popular tablets from Samsung, including the Samsung Tab A series and Samsung Tab S2. Details of Apple tablet availability and pricing on Sky Mobile will follow soon.

Example pricing for Samsung Tab A 10.1:

Monthly cost for your tablet and data plan £13

Sky Mobile tablet plans at a glance:

  • Roll – customers can automatically roll over any unused data into their Sky Piggybank each month, to use whenever they need for up to three years
  • Mix – customers can opt to change their data allowance, up or down, each month to match how much data they use, without changing contracts
  • Swap – for those who want to update their tablet frequently, Swap24 allows customers to upgrade their tablet every two years without changing their contract. Or customers can opt for Swap36 and get Sky’s lowest monthly price on their tablet with the option to upgrade after three years, or keep their tablet and reduce their monthly cost further

Guy's, we have recently had Sky Q installed which we are very impressed with. However my wife hates the touch remote and complains it is awkward (I think it's her that's awkward!!). The system came with just the single remote, not two like previous. Please, does anyone know if the rubber key version would work if I was to get one for her?

TIA

New Mac and mail problems

$

Hi just getting going with a new iMac. Mail is constantly showing it's downloading messages, seems to be in some kind of loop? I have seen various amount of mail for download currently it says downloading qty 1228. A short while ago it was 10, it never seems to get to ZERO.

I have attached a screenshot of the Mail settings, not sure if I have done this correctly, but I'm sure someone will put me right!

On my previous Mac I had to enter port numbers ie: 465/993 etc, but with the trend to smarter computing Mail can now manage the port detail itself?

Mail is now at download 422 of 1228 emails, I'm sure the solution is easy but it"s beyond my limited knowledge.

Any advice would be helpful

Can't log into Sky website or email

Hi. I'm having a nightmare trying to get hold of sky with help for this. Since the begining of March, I've been unable to log into the Sky website or get any email from them. I get the message

There's a problem with the account and to contact 03442411280.

When I try to change my password, I enter my surname and secret answer, enter the new password and I then get the message

The was an unexpected error.

And nothing happens.

I've phoned the number but they never answer, been left on for over 40 minutes waiting and 50 minutes the second time. I've messaged them on Twitter, nothing. I've also messaged the Service Support FB page and even though I'm told I'm being passed to someone (obviously by automated message) nobody ever contacts me! I'm sat here now waiting for them to get in touch.

I'm at a loss on what to do now to get this sorted. Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Sky results for the nine months to 31 March 2018

Financial results
  • 5% increase in like-for-like revenue to £10.1 billion
  • 14% increase in Established Business EBITDA to £1.8 billion; 10% increase in EBITDA to £1.7 billion
  • Adjusted operating costs held flat in absolute terms for a third successive year
  • Statutory operating profit of £857 million, up 22%

Consistent execution against clear strategy
  • Extended Premier League rights in UK to 2022 with more games and at a lower cost
  • European partnership agreed with Netflix to bundle full service into brand new Sky TV pack
  • Sky Q penetration reached 2.5 million homes across UK, Ireland and Italy
  • Commenced next stage in development of Europe’s best TV service with Spotify to launch on Sky Q next week
  • Significant upgrade started to all services in Germany & Austria and Sky Q rolling out on 2nd May
  • Agreed landmark deals in Italy with Mediaset to launch a Sky Pay-TV service over DTT, and with Open Fiber to launch a triple-play service
  • Added 480,000 new customers in the last year to 22.9 million; Q3 growth of 38,000

Jeremy Darroch, Group Chief Executive, commented:

“It’s been a good quarter for Sky. We’ve delivered excellent financial results, with like-for-like revenues up 5% and Established EBITDA up 14%. Against the back drop of a challenging consumer environment, this performance reflects the continual improvement in our broad set of products and services and our focus on providing great value every single day – something recognised by customers now taking over 62 million subscription products from us and our services reaching over 120 million people across Europe.
Today’s results not only demonstrate continued strong execution but also extend our position as Europe’s leading direct-to-consumer media business. We’re giving more customers the best viewing experience with the further development and roll out of Sky Q, now in millions of homes and launching in Germany & Austria in two weeks’ time as part of the ongoing transformation of our business in these markets. Customers can look forward to an even broader choice of entertainment through our pioneering new partnerships with Netflix and Spotify, together with our new Premier League deal which secures the UK rights until 2022. We’re continuing to expand the growth opportunity of the business by concluding landmark agreements in Italy with Mediaset to launch a Sky Pay-TV service over DTT for the first time, and with Open Fiber to access their next generation fibre-to-the-home broadband network and launch our own triple-play service in this market.
Looking ahead, we have the right strategy and abilities in place to provide customers with the best content, products and service. Whilst we expect the consumer environment to remain challenging, the business is in good shape and we remain on track for the full year.”

UK & Ireland

We had a strong quarter in the UK & Ireland making significant progress on our future growth plans, including the successful renewal of our Premier League rights from 2019 to 2022 at 16% less cost per
game, and the conclusion of new partnerships with both Netflix and Spotify as part of the next wave of development to make Sky Q even better. Simultaneously, we have continued to strongly grow customers, products, revenues and profits.
As at 31 March, we had 13 million customers, adding 70,000 new customers this quarter which is 75% higher than the prior year. This reflects healthy demand for our products and services and continued strong progress in reducing churn, falling for the fifth consecutive quarter as our loyalty initiatives, which launched just over a year ago, continue to take effect.
UK & Ireland revenues increased by 4% to £6,668 million driven by customer growth of 285,000 over the last year; good growth in products, particularly Sky Mobile and Sky Q multiscreen; the benefit of
our March 2017 home communications price change, and strong growth in content revenues reflecting our successful investments in original programming. We estimate that the UK advertising market was up around 1%, with Easter falling into this quarter compared to Q4 in the prior year.
Against that backdrop, our own business continued to outperform the market, with our advertising revenues up 3% year to date driven by continued good growth in advanced advertising.
This strong revenue performance, taken together with continued excellent progress on operating efficiency, delivered UK EBITDA growth of 14% to £1,454 million and 10% when including our
investment in Sky Mobile and our new Sky TV service in Spain.
Other highlights from the quarter include:
  • Next stage of Sky Q innovation rolling out including: a major upgrade to the user-interface designed to bring the content customers love to the top of their screens; a dedicated kids mode giving parents peace of mind over what their children can watch; and new voice controls which will allow customers to open apps and receive recommendations.
  • Strong performance from Sky original programmes: Britannia was our second biggest series launch, reaching 1.9 million viewers in its first week, and Save Me became our most rapidly consumed box-set release.
  • Sky Mobile scaling well with 437,000 customers, adding 102,000 new customers in Q3.
  • 84% of customer homes connected, up from 81%, driving an 18% increase in streams and on demand downloads.
  • Received lowest level of customer complaints in Ofcom’s quarterly report across each of TV, broadband and telephony, placing us top for customer service for the 8th consecutive quarter.

Use Now TV Hub Two as router only?

$

Please can someone tell me how to turn off the router function of the Sky NR801UK so that I can use it as just a modem, and use my own Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X as the router? Is this even possible?

Also, how do I set up my ER-X as the router? I mean I know how to change routers in general, but I keep seeing posts about option 61 and have no idea what that is.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I believe what I am looking for is bridge mode. Am I right in thinking this? I can't find this option in the Now TV Hub Two settings, please can someone direct me to where to find this? Thanks.

SKY Fibre Disconnects every 24hrs with Netgear R7800 and DD-WRT

I've configured my Netgear R7800 router with DD-WRT firmware to connect with Sky Fibre via the Haewei HG612 modem, and it all seems to work ok.

The DHCP lease renews every hour, but every 24 hours it counts down to zero and disconnects.

I then need to reconnect manually with the udhchp command

Are there any know settings in DD-WRT that need to be applied to keep the connection live?

I generally have a simple setup (no VPN, IPv6 etc) and haven't changed any settings from factory reset

Much appreciated

considering switch from Plusnet Fibre to Now Tv Fibre. Will I be OK continuing to use my Asus router? I understand they don’t ban third party equipment they just won’t support it - that’s OK. My research hasn’t revealed his easy it would be to continue to use the DSL-AC68U. Do they supply user ID/password or do you have to mess about extracting from their own modem/router? Any thing else I should be aware of? thanks

Sky yahoo emails being deleted

Hi, I've used my sky email for many years without any issues. I use outlook 2016 on my PC and only check my web email every 3 months or so to delete old or unwanted emails from the server.

Just lately all of my emails are being deleted off the server so I no longer have a backup should it be required.

My Outlook 2016 setup says 'keep a copy on the server' and delete is set to never.

I also use my iPhone and iPad to check emails with the knowledge that If I deleted them from said device they would still be on the server and would be downloaded to my PC when I got into Outlook.

I use POP settings for my 206 Outlook set up and as I say all has worked well until recently.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what might be going on please?
